Merida progress

I worked on getting Merida mostly finished this weekend.

Here she was on Friday:

I had to get the other sleeve made and finished – I had all the pieces cut, so I figured it would be fairly easy, but it wasn’t. I had a hard time getting them to look the same and be even – I need to stop doing that and start making things like that at the same time… not 2 weeks in between because I don’t feel like doing it again.

Also pretty sure I sewed them on wrong sleeve opening/backwards. It’s pretty apparent when they are just hanging at the side of the dressform:

BUT, it’s not at all noticeable when I have it on, so I’m not sure if I’ll fix it or not. I probably will just because I eventually want to sell it. I just really don’t feel like dealing with it right now.

Saturday morning I ran to Hancocks to buy the trim for around the bottom… and got there and realized I’d forgotten my coupon at home. I didn’t want to buy it without a coupon, so I just got a couple of little things, new thread, new pack of machine needles, and a couple of trims for neckline consideration.

Size wise, I liked the second one better. Looks wise, the first one — the first one is green in the center, which matched the dress really well. The smaller one was black. I ended up using the larger one and handstitching the top edge over to make it look a little smaller. I used the smaller one on the sleeve hems.

While at the fabric store I also looked around for ideas for sash fabric. This was all I found that was kinda “ok” – I’m not sold on the pattern and it was much more blue than I wanted, though I suppose I could dye it.

I’ll look at Joanns before I decide. I may not even do a sash… she doesn’t have one with this particular look. It just feels like I need one when I have it on.
Though looking at reference images of the sash I just realized I forgot about doing the neckline ruffle out of the white! (the faux chemise)… I was wondering what that cut of silk chiffon I had in my pile was for. So that, the trim, the eyelets and the maybe-sash are all that are left on this.
